Why arcade racers still beat the sims on phones

June 17, 2026 · Lukas Brenner

Every year someone releases a 'realistic' driving sim for phones, and every year I go back to something like Neon Dash Circuit instead.

The reason is simple: a phone is a bad steering wheel. Arcade handling forgives the awkward input and gives you the joy of speed without the frustration of a spun-out corner.

Ghost races are the underrated feature here. Racing your own best lap turns a short session into a tight, personal challenge, and there's no server dependency to ruin it offline.

If you're new to the genre, start with tilt on wide tracks and switch to touch buttons when the circuits tighten up. Your best times will follow.
